Today, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of veterinary professionals and Paraprofessionals across Zambia. This year, we honor their dedication, expertise, and tireless efforts in safeguarding animal and human health as well as the environment under the theme “Veterinarians are Essential Health Workers”.
As highlighted by the Veterinary Association of Zambia (VAZ) during its recent Annual General Meeting, Veterinarians and Veterinary paraprofessionals are indispensable in promoting Public Health, food security, job creation and poverty alleviation. Their expertise in veterinary medicine, conservation, food safety, and antimicrobial stewardship is instrumental in addressing global health challenges, including pandemics, environmental disasters and bioterrorism threats.
They play a vital role in safeguarding the well-being of our nation’s livestock, wildlife and companion animals, and are the first line of defense against diseases of animal origin and protect not only animal populations but also human communities from potential public health threats. As we commemorate World Veterinary Day, VAZ recognizes and appreciates the dedication and sacrifice of all our Veterinarians and Para veterinarians.
Together, let us continue to uphold the spirit of World Veterinary Day and work towards a healthier, safer, and more prosperous future for all.
Happy World Veterinary Day!
